It still has that medieval feel, and it's designed to be a world where the characters and their adventures feel natural.

The two main points we built around were daily living and adventuring and giving the player the ability to enjoy either one. As for the story, our Scenario Writer experimented with many things not usually seen in online games. For example, there are a couple little riddles and some foreshadowing hidden in the opening movie if you take a close look. We would like to see players working together to progress the story so they don't spoil it by accident in coversation. There are many facets to the game world and secrets hidden in every nook and cranny.

At first I thought FFXIV was not going to have a huge story line and that is would just be quest based stroies from diff NPC's, but as you can see it looks like the story will unfold by others working together, it seems like our charatcers will be incorperated into the game and that really excites me.

Also at the end he mentions that secret are hidden in every nook and cranny, this is what makes adventuring so much fun is finding secrets and achieving something rare that no one else has, makes you feel special.

Another very importatnt part of any MMO is growing your character, and it looks like SE is working hard on this. Here is what Komoto had to say about it.

Komoto: For us, it was thinking, "What do Final Fantasy fans like?" The keyword we came up with was "growth." The most important aspects of role-playing are growing your character, getting new weapons, new abilities and opening the door to new stories and adventures. And that's what FFXIV is, a place to grow through meeting new people and attaining new abilities. There is also a brand new story to enjoy... you could say the theme of FFXIV is combining all these key RPG elements for the player.

I have always been big on acheiving the best equips for my character, and it seems that they are going to put a ton of content into our character growth.

My favorite part so far about FFXIV is that you can mix classes to craete your own class. In this video you can see a Maurder wearing a Mage hat. And could he be using Thaumaturg skills as well?!

At first I thought the guildleves were going to be just boring slash and bash monsters to collect items to return to the NPC like in all F2P MMO's, but after seeing this video footage of a guildleve called "To catch a Theif" that totaly changed my mind about guildleves. Here is the video.

Final Fantasy XIV Online is starting to look really good, I can't wait to get my hands on it. Here is a video on a few classes.

FFXIV Beta: For the PS3?

-When can we expect Beta to start?
Tanaka - The beta version we are shwoing at E3 is nearly complete and should be ready to be made public soon. Currently, we're still debugging. Once alpha tests finnish this week and we return to Japan, we will begin preperations for the start of beta testing. It's not set in stone, but I think I'll need everyone to wait one more month.

I was wondering If PS3 will be ready for beta next month in July or is it only going to be for PC, and PS3 will need to wait a bit longer? I hope this is not the case because I bought a new PS3 last week for FFXIV, I would rather have bought a PC but they are alot more expensive. I currently have no games for my PS3 expect for Uncharted 1&2. So It will be a boring summer if FFXIV beta won't come out next month for PS3.

This is all the news Tanaka gave at E3 regrading PS3 "It is currently under development. We have been working with SCE and making progress. Though the PS3 enviroment is fairly predefined, we would like to add a variety of optional settings for players. It's similar to the direction we took with FFXI's PS2 version."

Its good to see that Tanaka and his crew are working with SCE and have made progress so maybe PS3 FFXIV beta will come out next month with PC. And I'm not sure what he said about "the PS3 enviroment is fairly predefined" does this mean that the PS3 will run the game better than PC or can the PS3 only run on a lower setting and they need to adjust it? Also he said he would like to add a varity of settings for players, does this mean the PS3 will get different seetings than the PC? Anyway you look at it the PS3 can handle alot so I am confident the PS3 will be able to run FFXIV on the highest settings, just look at games like Uncharted 2, MW2, red dead redemption.

Here is a video showing the comparisons between the Alpha/Beta. I really like the improvments, expecially the new battle system!
